Dr Henry Wong is a specialist in anaesthesia, with a focus on perioperative medicine and cardiac anaesthesia. He is an Assistant Professor and Honorary Consultant at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Chief of cardiac anaesthesia at Prince of Wales Hospital. He is also the Assistant Secretary, Council member, Training Officer and the Deputy Chair of the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists (HKCA), and the Chairman of the Training Subcommittee of COC Anaesthesia at the Hospital Authority.
He is a fellow of both the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists and the Australian & Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), and holds the Graduate of Chapter in Perioperative Medicine (GChPOM) from ANZCA. He obtained a Master of Science in Health Service Management (MScHSM) from CUHK and a Master of Science in Perioperative Medicine (MScPOM) from UCL.
His research focuses on improving patient outcomes through perioperative care and pain management. He obtained the FPM Best Free Paper Award, and the Prize Abstract from ANZCA, and has received the Young Achiever Award from the Hospital Authority. He is the PI and Co-I on several ongoing research projects related to perioperative cardiac anaesthesia, including efficacy of preoperative intravenous iron therapy for anaemia patients, value of a prehabilitation program for cardiac surgery, and pain management in cardiac surgical patients. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, including PLOS ONE, Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine, , Anaesthesia, and BJA.
