Prof. Thomas Leung is a Stroke Neurologist, the first interventional neurologist in Hong Kong, and a neuro-sonologist certified by the American Society of Neuroimaging. Prof. Leung currently serves as Chief of Neurology (Academic Affairs) in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, and the Assistant Dean (Postgraduate Education) for the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK.
Prof. Leung’s research interests focused on stroke imaging, cerebral re-vascularization therapy, intracranial atherosclerosis, and brain health. He has published as the first or corresponding author in high-impact specialty journals including Annals of Neurology, Neurology, Stroke, and JAMA Neurology. He is the assistant Editor for Stroke, a journal of the American Heart Association, and the Associate Editor for the International Journal of Stroke, the journal of the World Stroke Organization.
Prof. Leung aims to translate science into health service. He is the chairman of Central Committee in Stroke Services of Hospital Authority in Hong Kong, the co-chair of the Global Executive Committee of MT 2020, the national coordinator for Safe Implementation of Treatment in Stroke (SITS), council member on the National Endovascular Treatment for Stroke Committee and Stroke Prevention and Risk Factor Control Committee of China, and the immediate past President of the Hong Kong Neurological Society.
