Professional Profile

Christopher Lai is a specialist in Clinical Microbiology and Infection. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1998. He began his career as a Physician and obtained his MRCP in 2001, before transitioning to Clinical Microbiology in 2003. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK), the Hong Kong College of Pathologists, and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.

His research interests include (1) translating advanced diagnostic technologies into clinical practice to improve the management of infectious diseases; (2) the clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory diagnosis of bloodstream infections and respiratory viral pathogens; (3) the human microbiota and its association with the carriage of pathogenic organisms; and (4) the control of antimicrobial-resistant organisms through novel therapeutics and infection control strategies.
