Professional Profile

Matthew Chan is a clinician-researcher and world-recognized leader in perioperative research. As a clinical anesthesiologist, Matthew has a special interest in neuroanesthesia and intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring. Matthew’s research portfolio encompasses both basic science investigations and large collaborative clinical trials to improve perioperative outcomes. His goal is to develop anesthetic interventions that enhance recovery in high-risk patients having complex surgery. He supervises a multi-disciplinary team that span across genomic, cellular, animal, bioinformatic and clinical research in anesthesia, pain and sepsis. His clinical research team has led large collaborative clinical trials in perioperative medicine.
