- Ocular Hypertension and pre-glaucoma status: treatment approach and the applicability of new imaging technique in the management algorithm.

Professional Profile
Dr. Poemen Chan graduated from The University of Hong Kong with the CP Fong Gold Medal in Medicine, H.C. Liu Prizes in Anatomy, and three scholarships. He trained at Hong Kong Eye Hospital, becoming an associate consultant in 2014, and was awarded the HC Ho Medical Education Foundation Scholarship in 2015 for clinical visits to Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and Prism Eye Institute in Toronto. He received the Best Poster Display Award at the Hospital Authority Convention in 2014 and the Outstanding Staff and Team Award in 2016, as well as the Best Service Provider award of Hong Kong Eye Hospital.
Since joining the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at CUHK, he has been honored with the Distinguished Young Fellow award from the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (2021), the Overall Gold Award, and the Best Self-initiated Project Award from the Asia-Pacific Professors of Ophthalmology Academic Development Mentorship Scheme (2023). His paper on the ten-year outcome of acute primary angle closure was selected as “Paper of the Month” by the World Glaucoma Association. He has published over 60 papers in indexed journals and more than 10 textbook chapters. He has delivered over 45 invited lectures, over 70 conference papers, and more than 10 instruction courses. He has obtained over HKD 7.5 million in research grants and over HKD 2.5 million in UGC-supported teaching grants as the principal investigator.
Internationally, he participated in the World Glaucoma Association Consensus Meetings XI in 2019 and XII in 2025. He served as glaucoma subspecialty liaison for the World Ophthalmology Congress in 2018 and as Secretary and coordinator for several Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congresses. He is an invited member of the Associate Advisory Board and a founding member of the Hong Kong Glaucoma Society.
